Mt. Shasta through a ducks eye view. :-) These little traveling buddies were a gift from the Hildebrandt family. They have been on our dash since last August. Thanks Jamie, Kelly, and Jasmine. We love you!!! Jamie you are my hero.:-)
Yay! It is official! We have made it to OR. We pulled into the Flying L Ranch yesterday at 430pm. We had just enough time to unload the horses, get settled and unhook before we drove into Ashland.
Yesterday was definitely our longest mileage day. We went from Bakersfield to Ashland. We left at 430am and arrived at 430pm. Sweet! We did pull the horses out around Red Bluff and gave them a grazing/H2O break. All in all, it was a great safe trip. Smooth sailing for Millie, Blue, and their 5 passengers.
We had a great evening with family in Ashland. We met at the Standing Stone Brewery with Garrett's Grandma Archien, my Aunt Kat, Aunt Jeri and Uncle Kip. It was a wonderful dinner coupled with great beer and inspiring conversation. It sure feels good to be back in the NW. We just love it.
We stopped in Grants Pass this morning for fuel, breakfast, and to get some hot cocoa. It was about 25deg. and that is about the coldest temp that we saw all winter. :-) I sure am glad that we are back in March, we need some time to acclimate to winter. :-)
We are almost to Roseburg/Glide where we will be staying for a few days with our great family friends, the Young's. It will be awesome to take an indoor/hot shower and get some laundry done. :-) We know that the horses will appreciate green grass and freedom to roam. We have a dinner date with family Thurs. night and a dental appt. for Murphy on Thurs. afternoon.
Friday we will head over to Myrtle Point to visit my folks and grandparents for a few days. Then back to Glide and up to Portland by Sun./Mon. :-) We will have family/friend time for a few days there before we head to Bend. We plan to be in Portland again by the 27th and then it is out to MT by the end of the month. :-)
I will check in a few times in the coming weeks with MT updates and details. I know that great things are coming! We are so excited about our future plans and the next chapter of our time on the Road.
We appreciate all of you that are a part of our lives and for the great comments, emails, and thoughts that you are sending. Oh.. and don't you worry. We have not forgotten about the Amazing Race. Interviews start the 20th in Seattle and we are still hopeful....
Proud to be Oregonians~HB & GG
