Turkey Day Eve update...

The H.E.B~ This is our grocery in Killeen. "Here Everything is Better" is a store that was started by a man in the early 1900's, I think it is much the same story as how Fred Meyer got its' start. :-) It is a kinda funky place but we dig it. They have just about everything we use and even some organics.
Score!
So any how~~~ Happy Turkey Day Eve! We are doing our dinner tonight and then we are spending our Turkey day on an excursion since we both have the day off. I work Fri.-Sun and Garrett has worked Mon.-today this week. :-)
As I mentioned before.. Our Turkey Day dinner is as follows;
BBQ Cornish Game Hens (w/ stuffed little butts of potato, onion, and seasonings), BBQed Corn on the Cob, and baked aCorn squash. We might even have Corn chips and corn salsa for appetizers. Is Whiskey made from corn? I'll have to find a corn beer? :-) Delima, Delima! Yep, it is a very corny Thanksgiving dinner.
Can you believe it, Garrett, a employee of the City of Killeen??? Crazy! He had classroom training on Monday and then his first day in the field yesterday. Let's just say that Garrett and I both have strong work ethics and we are learning a lot about our new surroundings.
Not to say that people are lazy down here, not that at all. Things just move at a different pace and there are different focuses as to what is urgent.:-)
I have enjoyed my first few weeks of work. I am also adjusting to not having a position that is physically demanding and outside. :-) I am having fun though and I love so many aspects of the vineyard. The owners are amazing people and are so open to suggestions and change as well. I think that the change of routine and some diversity are great for me. :-) I have met some very cool people and I have started up our recycling program. It will be a work in progress. It is a bit different in Rural Texas, well, it is a lot like rural Oregon really!
OH! Shocker! Yesterday was a bit emotional. I had to hand over my Oregon Driver's License. Ouch! Tear! :-( Shot to the Heart. But hey, at least I was able to keep my CDL and my motorcycle endorsement. :-)
Garrett is totally awesome! He has been riding the motorcycle, Brutus, to the big city of Killeen for work and such on the days that I need the truck for work. I have taken him the last few days and then he takes me to the vineyard at times as well. It all works out.
Let's see~~~ We are going to go to the Enchanted Rock State Natural area tomorrow and hike around. I think that we are going to drive through Fredricksburg and Georgetown as well. Check out some new territory. It is nice to get out and about when we can. I think that this is the last day we will get off together until the 21st for the Robert Earl Keen concert outside of San Antonio. We will also have X-mas day off and maybe even the 24th? 26th too!? Yay for fun! More adventures. Man it is nice to be getting a paycheck again. I am thankful for a job this Thanksgiving. :-)
Who would of thought that we'd be spending our Thanksgiving, Christmas(my 31st birthday!) New Years, and Garrett's b-day in TX! I sure as hell didn't. :-)
As for me, on this beautiful day off.... I am going to ride my bike 7-8 miles to feed some horses for Karl, the director here. Go for a ride now that Murphy is feeling a bit better and is barefoot. Yesterday I took him and Mr. Lightning out for a 1/2 hr. and we had a great time. We usually go bareback in halters and I just pony Lightning. I am going to start working on Lightnings bareback comfort as well. Right now it really freaks him out. That will be FUN!!!!
Roy and I also have to get things prepped for little Corny Hens and the rest of dinner. :-) He is such a great helper... If he only had THUMBS it would be a lot easier.
Around the home front...
The trailer/house/storeage unit/hay barn/tackroom/carport is great! We love it and appreciate it. We finally made it through our first 2 propane tanks last night. Amazing! I can't believe that they have lasted for 9 weeks. Economical little suckers!
Like I said, I will get some new photos up tomorrow and let you know how are wonderful Corny Thanksgiving dinner turned out! We are really excited about our hike and new excursion tomorrow. It is so awesome to get off the ranch and check out more of this great state. :-) Love that!!!
Well! I am going to get the dishes done and the grey water dumped so that I can get out and enjoy our beautiful day! It is supposed to be a high of 77 today and I think 73 tomorrow with a chance of thunder showers. Not too Bad!!!!
Love to all of you and I am giving Thanks for all of you!!!
Oh~~ Garrett says that he loves it when people comment on our blog. No joke, he checks it morning and night to see if anyone has left us a message! It is freak'n hilarious!
Cheers!
XOXOX~~HB & GG

We really hope that your CORNY Thanksgiving dinner was out of this world! We will, of course, be having the same old traditional. Wondering how your sightseeing trip went today. I heard that there may have been a thunderstorm or two down there, any gully washers. H, I will miss your relish trays and getting them out to the hungry. G. Bill and I are working our tails off trying to get this house decent for the tribe. Love you both, Gma and Gpa

Happy Thanksgiving one day late. Oh well... I hope you guys had a nice dinner. This was your first Thanksgiving as husband and wife. Way cool. Randy and I realized yesterday that we moved into this wondeful home of ours 10 years ago. Yep, remember Garrettt. Moving on Thanksgiving weekend in the rain and having dinner at your gma's and gdad's house because everything was in boxes.

Fun times.. Anyway all is well. I will check in with you guys again soon.

Love ya
